How to keep your dog entertained indoors

Owning a dog can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a lot of work. One of the biggest challenges dog owners face is keeping their pet entertained and happy when they're stuck inside. This can be difficult during winter months or rainy days. In this blog post, we will share some tips for keeping your dog entertained indoors!

Purchase or make your own dog toys

One way to keep your dog entertained indoors is to give them plenty of toys to play with. This could include chew toys, fetch toys, or even simple things like a Kong filled with peanut butter. You can also try playing games with your dog indoors such as hide and seek or tug of war.

You could also try setting up some simple obstacles courses for your dog to navigate. This is a great way to provide mental and physical stimulation for your pet. You can use treats to train them to solve the puzzles.

Play fetch indoors

This is a great way to tire out your dog while also getting some exercise yourself!

If you have the space, playing fetch indoors can be a great way to tire out your dog. You can use a small bean ball or even a soft Frisbee if you have the room. Just make sure that you don't accidentally break anything in your home!

Have a doggy play date

Invite a friend over with their dog for a fun play date! This is a great way to socialise your dog and give them some much-needed playtime. Just make sure that you choose a friend whose dog is compatible with your own in terms of energy and size. You can enjoy a warm cup of home made coffee, or get your friend to bring a latte from your favourite cafe on their way over. You can swap it for some home baked goodies.

Go for a walk

Even if it's cold or raining, you can still take your dog for a walk around the block or out in the bush. They'll love the fresh air and exercise. Walking your dog in bad weather can still be good for them! It allows them to get out all of that excess energy and explore their surroundings. Just be sure to dress them in appropriate gear to keep them warm and dry.

Just remember when you go for bush walks that there are lots of vulnerable native species so you need to know if your dog needs to be on leash.

If you do head out for a walk, you'll want a dependable home-compostable dog poop bag with you.

Teach your dog some new tricks

This is a great way to bond with your pet while also providing them with mental stimulation. Try teaching them simple things like sit, stay, come, or down. You can also try more advanced tricks like roll over or play dead. Just have patience and plenty of treats on hand to reward your dog for their efforts!

There are lots of ways to entertain your dog indoors. Just get creative and have fun with it! Your dog will appreciate the extra attention and you'll get to spend some quality time with your furry friend.
